“Direction, not intention, determines destination.”

Alas, we have started a new year. I love to see the calendar page turn from December to January. It gives me the chance to wipe the slate clean and start fresh. I, like so many of you, have set goals, resolutions, or benchmarks on what I want to see happen in 2013. I believe in the value in setting goals each year, but my intention for reaching a goal is not enough to help me obtain that goal.

For example, one of my goals for 2013 is to read one book a month, but in order for that to happen, I will have to pick up a book to read. I could have great intentions to read, but if I don’t have a corresponding action, my destination will not be reached.

In all my goals, I have to ask myself the tough question… How will I reach that goal? I have to set the direction in order to reach the destination. So let me ask you the tough question… How will you reach that goal?

This year I’m challenging myself to set the direction in my goals so that I can reach the destination. Will you join me?
